Training & Learning
We all need training to do our jobs in a competent, safe and effective way. Training involves the transfer of knowledge, usually relating to specific functional areas e.g. health and safety, quality, finance, marketing techniques, HR etc. In order for the training to be effective the recipient needs to be interested and inspired in the subject matter and receptive to learning.

People have different learning styles – an approach that may suit one individual may be ineffective for others. Training is often an integral part of an overall development plan aimed at ensuring high standards of work quality and in providing satisfaction and pride in employees. Well trained and highly motivated individuals who have autonomy in the work responsibilities are usually high performers. It is no coincidence that the most successful organisations invest a significant proportion of their capital in continual training and lifelong learning for all staff. Training programmes should be developed to reflect current and future business needs.

  7. Prepare training plans and ensure training is carried out
  8. Ensure that individual trainees maintain their training history and skill records
  9. Encourage (or require) trainees to cascade their training to others in the organisation
